Magnitude 5.4 earthquake strikes off Kamchatka’s coast

MOSCOW, January 17. /TASS/. A 5.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded on Sunday off the coast of Kamchatka in Russia’s Far East, the US Geological Survey reported.

The epicenter was located 241 km northeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky at the depth of 10 km.

Neither casualties nor damage nor tsunami threat have been reported.

According to the Petropavlovsk seismic station of the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences’ regional branch, a 5.5 magnitude quake hit at 20:31 local time (11:31 GMT) 265 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky at the depth of 11 km.
