China International Consumer Products Expo kicks off in Hainan

This expo is the largest in the region

HAIKOU, April 13. /TASS/. The 5th China International Consumer Products Expo (Hainan Expo) has kicked off in Haikou, the administrative center of the southern Chinese province of Hainan, TASS reports. The event will be held at the Hainan International Exhibition Center until April 18.

More than 4,100 brands from 71 countries and regions of the world are exhibiting here. This year's exhibits include high-tech products related to artificial intelligence, drones, smart cars, exoskeletons and other innovations.

Fast-growing Chinese technology companies will showcase their novelties to the public: Xpeng, a manufacturer of flying cars, IFlytek, a provider of AI services in the field of speech recognition, EHang, a developer of aerotaxis, and others. Among the foreign companies participating in the exhibition are world-famous brands Est e Lauder, Tesla, Volkswagen and many others.

The exhibition area of all pavilions exceeds 160 thousand square meters. In addition to the international exhibition center, the exhibition activities will be held in Hainan duty-free shops. In addition, a yacht exhibition will be held in the city of Sanya in the south of the island.

The guest of honor at this year's show is the United Kingdom with fifty-three British brands to be represented at the event.

A pair of Hainan gibbons, endemic to the island, have been chosen as the mascots of the expo; the organizers have named them Yuanyuan and Xiaoxiao. About 40 individuals of these monkeys live on the island.

The significance of Hainan Expo

Hainan Expo is an important platform reflecting global trade trends, the largest in the Asia-Pacific region.

According to the Chinese government's plans, the Hainan Expo will promote the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port and the establishment of an international tourism consumption center on the island. The country's authorities view the consumer goods exhibition as an important platform for foreign companies to enter the Chinese market and for the country's companies to enter the international market.
