YAKUTSK, February 5. /TASS/. By using newly-organized trade and logistics centers Yakutia managed to increase the number of supplied products from 70 to 400, the Arctic Trade and Logistics Company's Director General Saidam Stepanov told TASS.
Yakutia has been building trade-logistics centers since 2021. The centers are used to store food products, cutting transportation costs and curbing socially important food products' price hikes. Yakutia has launched eight centers of the kind.
"This year we are opening another two trade-logistics centers - in the Verkhoyansky and Momsky Districts," the company's top manager said. "By the year end, we plan to open centers in the Allaikhovsky, Eveno-Bytantaysky and Oleneksky Districts. Therefore, every year we will increase amounts of supplied food products. While in the past our old branches used to sell about 70 items of food products, nowadays the trade-logistics centers sell at least 400 items of food products."
Yakutsk continues building an agricultural processing plant, which will produce stewed meat, canned vegetables, syrups and jams of local products. The plant, where 8 people will work, is due to be commissioned in 2025. The project will support the local people, and products will be made on the spot which means easier logistics to the Arctic territories.
The trade-logistics centers will buy wild plants from the locals, the company's representative added.
The Arctic Trade and Logistics Company in Yakutia is engaged in year-round supplies of socially significant food products to the region's Arctic districts and remote settlements.
