Total growth of CIS countries GDP expected to reach 4.7% by year end — Putin

The growth of the total gross domestic product of all countries - members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) is expected at 4.7% by the end of 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about these results, which exceed the world average, at the opening of the informal CIS summit.

"The macroeconomic indicators of our countries have improved significantly. Thus, by the end of 2024, the growth of the total GDP of the Commonwealth countries is projected to reach 4.7%. This is higher than the world average," the Russian leader estimated.

"In 10 months, industrial production has already increased by 4.3%, the volume of cargo transportation - by 7.4%, retail sales - by 7.7%," Putin added.

The president recalled that "Russia's main efforts as the CIS chair were aimed at developing integration in the Eurasian space and strengthening the international authority of the Commonwealth." "Priority was given to deepening economic cooperation, ensuring the free movement of goods and services, eliminating trade barriers, and simplifying customs procedures," the Russian president added.
