Inter RAO sets record for electricity supplies to China and Mongolia in 2022

Russia’s Minister of Energy Nikolay Shulginov said at the end of December 2022 that Russian power exports to China and Mongolia would increase by 20% in total, while exports to China would increase by 16%

MOSCOW, January 25. /TASS/. Inter RAO set a record for electricity supplies to China and Mongolia in 2022, fully compensating for the halt in exports to the European Union, the company's CEO Boris Kovalchuk announced during a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

"As you are aware, we have ceased commercial deliveries to EU countries from June 2022, while greatly increasing shipments to China and Mongolia. By the end of 2022, a historical high will be set in terms of kilowatt-hours sales in these directions," he said.

Russia’s Minister of Energy Nikolay Shulginov said at the end of December 2022 that Russian power exports to China and Mongolia would increase by 20% in total, while exports to China would increase by 16%. Earlier, Kovalchuk stated that Russia would supply a record-breaking 4.4-4.5 bln kWh of electricity to China in 2022.

According to Inter RAO CEO, the company's engineering divisions' total order portfolio currently surpasses 150 bln rubles ($2.27 bln), making its engineering business the largest in the Russian thermal power industry.

Inter RAO is present in more than 30 Russian regions. Its installed capacity reaches around 31,000 MW.
