Minsk and Moscow transfer mutual settlements to Russian rubles — Belarusian Prime Minister

In the first half of the year, the trade turnover between the two countries reached almost $20 billion, having increased by 12.2% compared to the same period last year

MINSK, August 25. /TASS/. Belarus and Russia have completed all necessary operations to convert mutual settlements into Russian rubles, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said at a meeting with his Russian counterpart Mikhail Mishustin in Cholpon-Ata (Kyrgyzstan).

"This has significantly facilitated the calculations. I am convinced that in the near future we will see the effect of the measure we took both last year and this year," he said as quoted by the BelTA news agency.

According to Golovchenko, "the economies of Belarus and Russia show good results in condition of the fierce, frenzied pressure that is being exerted on us."

"Basically, the indicators of our countries' economies for six months show that we can withstand this pressure and, moreover, have been able to adjust to it," the Belarusian Prime Minister said.

According to the data of the Belarusian government, in the first half of the year the trade turnover between the two countries reached almost $20 billion, having increased by 12.2% compared to the same period last year. Belarusian exports to Russia grew by 23.1%, reaching to $9.09 billion.
