The Ufa is heading from the Baltic Sea to join the Pacific Fleet

MOSCOW, Nov. /TASS/. 7. The Pacific Fleet’s Ufa submarine, armed with Kalibr missiles, is making a call to the Indonesian port of Surabaya, the fleet said in a statement.

It is escorted by the rescue tug Alatau.

"While at the Indonesian port, Russian sailors will hold a number of formal events such as meetings with representatives of the Indonesian Navy, friendly volleyball matches, and will visit local attractions," the statement said.

The Ufa is heading from the Baltic Sea to join the Pacific Fleet.

Earlier, a flotilla of Russian naval ships including the corvettes Gromky, Rezky and Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov called at Surabaya for the first joint exercise of Russian and Indonesian warships, which is called Orruda-2024.

The Ufa submarine was put into service with the Russian Navy on November 16, 2022. It is the fourth of six Project 636.3 submarines that are planned to be built for the Pacific Fleet. Project 636.3 - or Varshavyanka-class - submarines are the third generation of diesel-electric submarines and are considered to be some of the world’s most silent.

The submarines are 74 meters long, with a maximum displacement of more than 3,900 tons. The robust hull allows the submarine to dive to a working depth of 240 meters and a maximum depth of 300 meters. It has a range of up to 7,500 miles. The submarines are armed with the Kalibr-PL missile system.
