Iran makes US accountable for renewed Israeli attacks on Gaza Strip — Foreign Ministry

"Massacres of hundreds of innocent Palestinian citizens, including women and children" are carried out with Washington's tolerance, the statement reads

DUBAI, March 18. /TASS/. Iran has condemned the resumption of Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip and held the United States responsible for hostilities in the enclave, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said.

"The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman called these attacks a continuation of genocide and ethnic cleansing on the territory of occupied Palestine and pointed to the responsibility of the US government for the crimes perpetrated by the Zionist regime," the Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"Massacres of hundreds of innocent Palestinian citizens, including women and children" are carried out with Washington's tolerance, including during the suspension of goods entering the enclave, the Iranian Foreign Ministry noted.

On March 18, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported extensive strikes on Hamas strongholds in the Gaza Strip. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said that Israel had resumed military operations in Gaza after Hamas rejected the US proposals put forward by mediators and US Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff. The office stated that the Israeli military had restarted strikes on Hamas targets in Gaza to secure the hostages' release and that the army would expand its campaign in the enclave.

According to the latest figures from the Gaza Health Ministry, the number of people killed in the Israeli attacks on Gaza has exceeded 400, and at least 562 others have been injured. About half of the fatalities were victims of an airstrike on the administrative center of Gaza, the Al Arabiya TV channel reported earlier.
