Georgia supports US efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine — PM

Georgia earlier supported the American version of the resolution on Ukraine at the UN and became its co-sponsor

TBILISI, February 25. /TASS/. Georgia strongly backs US efforts to initiate negotiations on establishing peace in Ukraine, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.

"We support the peace plan [for Ukraine] of the United States’ authorities and hope that it will be successful soon," Kobakhidze said.

This is why Kobakhidze said it was the American version of the resolution on Ukraine that Georgia supported at the UN and became its co-sponsor.

The UN Security Council on February 24 voted in favor of an American resolution on the conflict in Ukraine. The document was adopted in its original form, the Security Council rejected both the anti-Russian amendments of European countries and the changes proposed by Russia aimed at refining the assessment of the Ukrainian crisis.
