Belarus, Russia finalize treaty on security guarantees

Work on documents has been completed

MINSK, November 11. /TASS/. Belarus and Russia have finalized work on the treaty on security guarantees of the two countries and the security concept of the Union State, Belarusian Security Council State Secretary Alexander Volfovich said.

"We have finalized the treaty on security guarantees for the Union State and completed work on the security concept, which is also a very important strategic document. Work on these two documents has been completed, and together with the Russian Security Council secretariat, we plan to submit them for approval by our presidents at the Supreme State Council [of the Union State in early December]," he told the Izvestia newspaper.

In late October, Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov stated that the Union State security concept would designate the use of nuclear weapons as a safeguard of the sovereignty of Russia and Belarus.
