French police question leader of SOS Donbass group

SOS Donbass has regularly organized events in solidarity with the residents of Donbass and against sending weapons to Ukraine since 2022

PARIS, February 21. /TASS/. Anna Novikova, the head of the French group called SOS Donbass, which calls for the support of victims of the conflict in Donbass, told TASS that police questioned her following a complaint from a Ukrainian activist.

"The main accusation is fraud: that we are using the SOS Donbass association as a humanitarian group to cover up aid to the Russian military, that we are financed by Russia, that we are collecting money here to send it to associations in Donbass that help the Russian Armed Forces," she said.

The police also promised to send a list of documents that will need to be submitted to prove that the group is engaged in humanitarian activities.

Earlier, the bank holding the association's account froze it. Novikova said she is scheduled to talk to the bank’s staff in the near future.

SOS Donbass has regularly organized events in solidarity with the residents of Donbass and against sending weapons to Ukraine since 2022. The group also assembled two humanitarian cargoes with the support of volunteers from several European countries, and delivered them by truck to the DPR and LPR.

The first humanitarian convoy reached Donbass in May 2023. The second convoy, carrying 18 tons of humanitarian cargo, including wheelchairs, hospital beds, space heaters and foodstuffs, came to Donetsk in November.
