NEW YORK, January 16. /TASS/. Elon Musk hopes that Switzerland will organize a peace summit on Ukraine at the request of President Vladimir Zelensky, the American entrepreneur wrote about this on his account on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
"I hope that this happens. Time for people to stop dying in trenches," the billionaire said.
Musk’s post was a reaction to a tweet by an X user, who published a screenshot of the British newspaper Daily Mail article titled "President Zelensky asks Switzerland to organize "high-level peace conference."
On January 15, at a joint press conference with Zelensky, who arrived in Bern on a visit, the President of the Swiss Confederation, Viola Amherd, said that the Ukrainian president had asked Switzerland to organize a high-level peace conference on the Ukrainian "peace formula". According to her, Bern is ready to hold the summit. The parties are working on further steps.
Speaking by video link to the G20 summit participants in mid-November 2022, Vladimir Zelensky proposed a so-called 10-point peace plan that did not take into account Moscow's position. In particular, the plan implies the total withdrawal of the Russian Armed Forces beyond the borders as of 1991 and the return of control to Ukraine over the "exclusive economic zone" in the Black and Azov Seas. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that Kiev's statements on a peaceful settlement did not consider the realities. Moscow sees no progress in the peace process on Ukraine, thus, Russia continues its special military operation.
