Over 180 humanitarian aid trucks arrive in Gaza in past day

A total of 80 trucks were inspected at Israel’s Nitzana checkpoint and entered Gaza via the Rafah Crossing on the border with Egypt, while 102 trucks were inspected and transferred via Israel’s Kerem Shalom checkpoint

TEL AVIV, January 10. /TASS/. More than 180 trucks with humanitarian aid were permitted to enter the Gaza Strip via the Rafah and Kerem Shalom border crossings on Tuesday, the Israeli government’s coordinator for the Palestinian territories said.

"182 humanitarian aid trucks were inspected and transferred to the Gaza Strip [on] Jan. 9," the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) said on the X social network, formerly known as Twitter.

A total of 80 trucks were inspected at Israel’s Nitzana checkpoint and entered Gaza via the Rafah Crossing on the border with Egypt, while 102 trucks were inspected and transferred via Israel’s Kerem Shalom checkpoint.

Tensions flared up in the Middle East after Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip attacked Israeli territory on October 7, when many Israelis living in the settlements near the border were killed and over 240 people, including children, women and the elderly, were taken hostage. Hamas views its attack as a response to Israeli authorities’ steps against the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Israel declared a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and launched bombardments of the enclave and some areas in Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also reported in the West Bank.
