BELGRADE, December 6. /TASS/. The grand opening ceremony of the monument to Alexander Nevsky (Prince of Novgorod, Grand Prince of Vladimir, Grand Prince of Kiev) has been held in the Montenegrin town of Andrijevica, the press service of the Russian Center for Science and Culture "Russian House" in Belgrade told TASS.
"It is a great joy for us that the project, which is more than 15 years in the making, will finally become a reality, thanks to the incredible help, almost miraculous assistance, of the magnificent sculptor and academician Zeynalov," said Evgeny Baranov, director of the Russian House in Belgrade.
"Thanks to the efforts of the Russian House in Belgrade, the Russian Embassy in Montenegro and the Serbian Orthodox Church, two busts by the famous Russian sculptor, academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Aidyn Zeynalov will be unveiled on the Orthodox holiday - the Day of Remembrance of Grand Prince Alexander Nevsky. The monuments will be a gift from the Russian sculptor to the people of Montenegro," the Russian House noted.
Also on December 6, another monument to Alexander Nevsky will be unveiled in the Montenegrin town of Niksic.
The monuments to Nevsky are the first sculptural depiction of the Russian saint on the territory of Montenegro. In 2021, a bust of Alexander Nevsky was unveiled in neighboring Serbia, in the capital of Belgrade.
