Ukrainian leadership was preparing public for war ahead of special op — security official

According to Alexey Danilov, the preparation of the Ukrainian public for the war was "insane"

KIEV, January 16. /TASS/. The Ukrainian leadership, including President Vladimir Zelensky, has been preparing the Ukrainian public for a war ahead of the special military operation, Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Secretary Alexey Danilov said Monday.

"There was a goal set by the president, there was a goal set by the Council to prepare the public for a war. The public was ready for a war. […] A strategy was chosen, which was, I a believe, totally appropriate for the time. Whether the public will grow tired now or not, will depend on the public. We have no right to get tired," Danilov said on Ukrainian TV.

According to Danilov, the preparation of the Ukrainian public for the war was "insane."

Earlier, Ukrainian politician Viktor Medvedchuk wrote an article for the Russian media for the first time since his arrival in Russia after an exchange of captives. The article was published on the Izvestia’s website on January 16. In this article, Medvedchuk claims that many Ukrainians advocate peace and do not support Zelensky in his aspiration for military triumphs.
