Zagitova leads after short program of 2019 ISU European Figure Skating Championships

MINSK, January 23. /TASS/. Russian figure skater Alina Zagitova is in the lead with 75.00 points after the ladies short program competition of the 2019 ISU European Figure Skating Championships, hosted by the Belarusian capital of Minsk on January 21-27.

The second place after the short program on Wednesday is held by another Russian figure skater, Sofya Samodurova, whose performance earned her 72.88 points. Switzerland’s Alexia Paganini is currently in 3rd place with 65.64 points.

Zagitova, 16, is the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics gold medalist in singles and the silver medalist in team event. She is also the winner of the 2018 European Championships in Moscow and the gold medalist of the 2017-2018 Grand Prix Final in Nagoya.

The ladies’ free skating program at the 2019 ISU European Figure Skating Championships in Minsk is scheduled for January 25.
