Fashion designer Paco Rabanne dies in France at the age of 88 — newspaper

Apart from high fashion, Rabanne designed collections for everyday wear, created costumes for theatrical productions, shows and movies

PARIS, February 3. /TASS/. Fashion designer Paco Rabanne died in France on Friday at the age of 88, the Le Monde newspaper reported.

His death was confirmed by the Puig company that operates under the brand Paco Rabanne among others.

Paco Rabanne was born in Spain in 1934 but after his father died during the civil war, his family moved to France. He studied architecture at the National School of Fine Arts, but while still a student, he started making accessories and jewelry, particularly for fashion houses such as Dior, Givenchy and Balenciaga. Paco Rabanne became widely known in the second half of the 1960s for using unusual materials, namely paper and aluminum, to create his fashion collections.
