Iranian citizens banned from entering United Arab Emirates — airline

The company does not disclose the reason for the decision

CAIRO, April 1. /TASS/. Iranian citizens are banned from entering the United Arab Emirates (UAE) or making connections there, the largest UAE airline, Emirates, announced to passengers.

"Nationals of Iran are not allowed to enter and transit," the airline announced on its website in the "Travelling to United Arab Emirates" section. According to a TASS correspondent, this warning is displayed to passengers who wish to check entry conditions to the UAE and have entered "Iran" in the "citizenship" field on the website. That said, the airline noted that the ban does not apply to holders of the so-called UAE "golden visa": a residence permit valid for 5-10 years issued to major investors and entrepreneurs.

The airline does not disclose the reason for the decision. The UAE authorities have yet to officially comment on the information.

The US and Israel launched a military operation against Iran on February 28. Major Iranian cities, including Tehran, were hit. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched retaliatory strikes against Israel and US military facilities in Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.
