Over 20 terror attacks committed in central Russia this year — security chief

The number of crimes committed with the use of firearms and munitions has jumped by 80%

BRYANSK, November 15. /TASS/. Twenty-three terror attacks have been committed in Russia’s Central Federal District this year, and nine acts of sabotage have been prevented, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolay Patrushev said on Tuesday.

"This year, as many as 23 terror attacks have been committed, and 28 terrorism-related crimes have been averted, including nine acts of sabotage," he said.

"The number of crimes committed with the use of firearms and munitions has jumped by 80%," he added.

"It is of the utmost importance to prevent criminal infringements on the security of the population and pay special attention to the aversion of acts of sabotage and terror attacks," he stressed. "It is also important to focus on the protection of vital facilities, to review their vulnerabilities depending on the nature of threats and establish an appropriate level of security.".
