Sanya Satellite Ground Station receives data from Hainan-1 satellite

The data volume is about 10 Gb

SANYA /China/, March 3. /TASS/. Chinese researchers from Sanya city in Hainan province have successfully received the first data from one of the Hainan-1 group satellites, the China Daily reported.

The data was sent by the Hainan-1-02 high-resolution earth observation microsatellite. The quality of the transmitted signal is good, the data have been stored and is ready for further processing. Its volume is about 10 Gb.

"Only after successful data acquisition can we say that our satellite has been successfully developed. Our employees have been working overtime for the last few days to monitor the data reception situation. The result is good," said Yang Tianliang, head of the Hainan branch of the Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR) under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

Hainan-1-01, Hainan-1-02 and Wenchang-1-01 and Wenchang-1-01 satellites were launched from Hainan's Wenchang Cosmodrome on February 27. The data from the satellites will be used in areas such as natural resource protection, agriculture and forestry, navigation, and search and rescue in maritime emergencies.

The Wenchang Space Launch Centre in Hainan was built in 2014. Its proximity to the equator makes it easier to launch heavy launch vehicles. According to a government program, it will be used to launch Chinese space station modules into orbit, in lunar and Mars exploration missions.
