Western sanctions fail to prevent Russia, India from ramping up contacts — envoy

"Restrictions imposed by Western countries hurt the global economy overall and, as practice shows, are as painful for initiators of the sanctions pressure themselves Denis Alipov noted

NEW DELHI, February 10. /TASS/. Western sanctions do not prevent Russia and India from ramping up bilateral contacts, Russian Ambassador to New Delhi Denis Alipov said in an interview with TASS.

"The example of the Russian-Indian cooperation is yet another demonstration of the fact that unilateral sanctions are an instrument that is not only illegitimate but also inefficient. Over the past three years we confidently boosted bilateral contacts, not slowed down," he said, adding that in some areas of cooperation a unique, and in some fields an unprecedented level of dialogue and mutual trust was achieved.

"Restrictions imposed by Western countries hurt the global economy overall and, as practice shows, are as painful for initiators of the sanctions pressure themselves," the diplomat noted.
