Moscow expects signing of agreement on free trade between EAEU, Indonesia soon — Lavrov

Moscow also sees various opportunities for implementation of mutually beneficial initiatives in the energy sector, the Russian foreign minister noted

MOSCOW, February 3. /TASS/. Moscow expects the agreement on establishing a free trade zone between Indonesia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) to be signed soon, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

"We expect the speedy signing of the agreement on free trade between Indonesia and member states of the Eurasian Economic Union to give a serious boost to development of practical ties," he said at the opening of an exhibition devoted to the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Indonesia.

Russia also sees various opportunities for implementation of mutually beneficial initiatives in the energy sector, such as peaceful nuclear development, space exploration, agriculture and transport development, the minister added.

"The activities of the Russian-Indonesian joint commission on trade-economic and technical cooperation and its working groups contribute much to diversification of bilateral cooperation," Lavrov noted.

Indonesian Ambassador to Russia Jose Antonio Morato Tavares said earlier that the agreement on establishing a free trade zone was at its final approval stage, adding that it could be concluded in 2025.
