MOSCOW, December 18. /TASS/. Russia’s law enforcement agencies and the Defense Ministry are prepared to present conclusive evidence that Ukraine used white phosphorus in September, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated at a news briefing.
"Our law enforcement agencies, working alongside the Russian Defense Ministry, have gathered undeniable evidence showing that Ukraine’s armed forces deployed white phosphorus as a self-igniting airdrop ammunition for drones," the Russian diplomat said.
"This evidence indicates that Ukraine possesses chemical weapons that do not comply with international norms and that it has the capacity to synthesize highly toxic substances containing white phosphorus," she added.
According to Zakharova, "explosives containing white phosphorus, used by Ukrainian Nazis, are weapons of indiscriminate lethality and their use is prohibited under Protocol III of the Geneva Convention, which prohibits or restricts the use of incendiary weapons in and around populated areas." She warned that those implicated in chemical weapons-related crimes would face imminent legal action.
