Ambassadors were not protagonists at presentation of credentials to president — Kremlin

Dmitry Peskov pointed out that "during the ceremony, certainly the ambassadors were not protagonists, they were distinguished guests who presented their credentials"

MOSCOW, April 10. /TASS/. The foreign ambassadors who participated in the April 5 ceremony of presentation of credentials to Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin were not protagonists, they were respected guests, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Monday.

When responding to a request to comment on the words of US Ambassador to Moscow Lynne Tracy, who allegedly said after the ceremony that she felt uncomfortable around the Russian president because it was as if she was not the protagonist, the Kremlin spokesman said: "You know, I honestly haven't seen such a publication, haven't seen such a statement, so I can't say anything." Peskov pointed out that "the only thing I can say is that during the ceremony, certainly the ambassadors were not protagonists, they were distinguished guests who presented their credentials, but they were not protagonists."

Last Wednesday, the 17 newly arrived foreign ambassadors assisted the ceremony for the presentation of credentials to Russian President Vladimir Putin. The ceremony was traditionally held at the Alexander Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace.
