BEIJING, February 27. /TASS/. Russia’s ambassador to China Igor Morgulov has spoken highly of relations between the two countries, describing them with the Chinese proverb "A near neighbor is better than a distant relative."
"[Moscow and Beijing] have a high degree of mutual trust. They respect each other's interests and carry out mutually beneficial and close cooperation in all areas," Morgulov said in an interview published by the Chinese newspaper Huanqiu Shibao on Monday. "We are good neighbors, as the Chinese proverb says: "A near neighbor is better than a distant relative."
Morgulov noted that his task as Russia’s ambassador to China was very simple: "To selflessly serve the Motherland and ensure the national interests of Russia within my competence, including the comprehensive development of relations of friendship and cooperation with the People’s Republic of China.".
