Kremlin: Russia’s new foreign policy concept to be published in next few days

According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, this document, together with the previously approved National Security Strategy, will be the roadmap for the Foreign Ministry and other ministries and departments

MOSCOW, February 21. /TASS/. Russia's new foreign policy concept will be released in the coming days, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told TASS in an interview on Tuesday.

"In the next few days," he said, answering a question about whether the document would be published on the day of Russian president’s State of the Nation Address to the Federal Assembly or in the next few days.

In January 2022, the draft of the new version of the Russian foreign policy concept was put on the agenda of the operational meeting of the president with the permanent members of the Security Council, but after the discussion it was sent back for revision. In the fall, the Foreign Ministry and the Council of Ministers reported that the new version of the document was being finalized and approved. The Russian Security Council also indicated that it would reflect a new approach to relations with the West. In December, Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the updated draft concept at an operational meeting with the permanent members of the Russian Security Council.

Earlier, Putin said that the specific aspects of Russia's diplomatic and foreign policy work would be set out in the forthcoming new version of the concept. According to Putin, this document, together with the previously approved National Security Strategy, will be the roadmap for the Foreign Ministry and other ministries and departments.
