Chechen leader reveals plot to assassinate Akhmat commander

Ramzan Kadyrov stressed that Apty Alaudinov's life and well-being were not in danger

MOSCOW, February 13. /TASS/. Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov revealed that an assassination attempt targeting his aide, Commander of the Akhmat commando unit and Deputy Commander of the 2nd Army Corps Apty Alaudinov had occurred a couple of days ago.

"Friends, our dear brother, the Hero of Russia, aide to the head of the Chechen Republic, Commander of the Akhmat commando unit and Deputy Commander of the 2nd Army Corps Apty Alaudinov was poisoned a couple of days ago. Fast forward, let me assure you that now he is alright, his life and well-being are not in danger," he wrote on his Telegram channel on Monday.

According to Kadyrov, on February 8, Alaudinov’s aide-de-camp received an envelope laced with a poisonous substance addressed to the general.

"Apty Aronovich realized this because of a specific pungent smell and took timely measures: he sanitized his hands and rinsed his nasal cavity. The general’s aides-de-camp who touched the envelope did the same. Those poisoned were admitted to a field hospital where, thanks to capable and competent actions by its head and two military medics, one of whom turned out to be a professional toxicologist, grave consequences were avoided," he noted.

The Chechen leader added that those affected were at a Moscow clinic and were getting better. Specialists are analyzing the poisonous substance while the investigation into the assassination attempt and the identification of those involved are underway. "There are already some results," Kadyrov wrote.
