This will be the first visit to Russia by the current Algerian leader, who has been in office since 2019

MOSCOW, February 1. /TASS/. The date of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's visit to Russia has not yet been set, but preparations are already underway, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday.

"Preparations [for the visit] have begun, no date has been set yet," the Kremlin spokesman said.

On Tuesday, the leaders of Russia and Algeria held a telephone conversation during which, as the Algerian side reported, an agreement was reached on Tebboune's visit to Russia in May.

This will be the first visit to Russia by the current Algerian leader, who has been in office since 2019.

As the Kremlin press service reported after the conversation between the leaders, Vladimir Putin and Abdelmadjid Tebboune noted with satisfaction the progressive development of Russian-Algerian cooperation, rooted in the long-standing traditions of friendship and mutual respect. The sides agreed to intensify contacts at various levels and prepare important bilateral documents. They also reaffirmed their readiness to continue working together on the global energy market, including within the OPEC Plus and the Gas Exporting Countries Forum.
