Plane crash in Russia’s Ivanovo Region causes no damage on the ground — eyewitness

An Ilyushin Il-76 military cargo plane crashed in the Ivanovo Region earlier in the day

MOSCOW, March 12. /TASS/. A plane crash in Russia’s Ivanovo Region earlier on Tuesday caused no damage on the ground as it took place in a wooded area outside a cemetery, a cemetery guard told TASS.

"The plane crashed into a forest outside the Bogorodskoye Cemetery, at the end of the road. <...> It crashed and exploded. There is no damage because it crashed into the forest," he said.

Another guard said that the cemetery had not been damaged.

An Ilyushin Il-76 military cargo plane crashed in the Ivanovo Region earlier in the day. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, one of the plane’s engines caught fire during takeoff. There were eight crew members and seven passengers aboard the aircraft; their fate remains unknown.
