MOSCOW, February 14. /TASS/. Russia's pipeline gas exports may recover to 240 bln cubic meters per year if all planned projects are implemented, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Energy and President of the Russian Gas Society Pavel Zavalny said.
Thus, in 2025, gas supplies to China via the Power of Siberia should reach the design capacity of 38 bln cubic meters, and supplies to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan may increase. In the next 10 years, the implementation of the Far Eastern route for supplies to China from the Sakhalin shelf may be also expected. At the same time, negotiations are underway on the Power of Siberia 2, gas supplies via Kazakhstan with a potential pipeline capacity of up to 45 bln cubic meters per year. In addition, there are prospects for the project of supplies to Iran via Azerbaijan with a potential of up to 55 bln cubic meters.
"If all these projects are implemented, the total restored export of pipeline gas could amount to about 240 bln cubic meters, provided that the current level of demand for gas in foreign markets is maintained," Zavalny said. In 2024, pipeline exports amounted to 119 bln cubic meters.
According to Zavalny, in 2024, supplies via the Power of Siberia increased from 23 bln cubic meters to 31 bln cubic meters, to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan - from 32 bln cubic meters to 36 bln cubic meters. Supplies via the TurkStream increased by 22.4% year-on-year, mainly due to exports to EU countries, through Ukraine - by 2.2% to 13.75 bln cubic meters.
"At the same time, deliveries through the TurkStream pipeline immediately increased. Last year the maximum load of the pipeline was about 40% and since January 2025 it has increased by 26.5% and exceeded 50 mln cubic meters per day, with a design capacity of about 90-95 mln gas per day," Zavalny noted.
LNG exports from Russia in 2024 increased by 4% to around 33.6 mln tons, he said. At the same time, 17.4 mln tons of supplies went to Europe. The biggest European buyers were France, Spain, Belgium, and the Netherlands. In Asia, where 15.2 mln tons were shipped, the largest shipments went to Japan. At the same time, production at Novatek's Arctic LNG-2 project, which is under sanctions, declined, but production at Yamal LNG increased by 5.9% over the year to 32.96 bln cubic meters.
