HAIKOU /China/, September 9. /TASS/. The resort city of Sanya on the southern coast of Hainan Island is actively expanding and diversifying its night tourism program, stimulating the development of the consumer sector in the region, the Sanya Daily newspaper reported.
According to the article, the Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports of the province recently approved a list of Hainan's night-time tourist sites. Some of them are located in Sanya.
This includes the 39-hectare Silk Road Paradise recreation area. Investment in the facility, which was opened to vacationers in April, exceeded 2 billion yuan (more than $277 million). It is also about the tourism sector of the Mangrove Tree Resort World of Sanya Bay hotel and Luhuitou Park (“deer turning head” park).
Stores and markets operating at night, as well as the city panorama, are noted to be very popular among tourists. Thus, about 40% of visitors to the tropical forest park, which is located on an elevated position and allows a view of the city with the adjacent sea, come to admire the landscape at dusk or at night.
As for Silk Road Paradise, over 100,000 tourists have visited it at night since its opening. Mangrove Tree Resort is noted to attract visitors to the island with the opportunity to eat, shop, take part in entertainment and sports activities, and plunge into a festive atmosphere.
Night tourism is considered one of the key areas of development of the cultural and tourist consumer segment in China. According to official data, approximately 60% of the amount of purchases by Chinese citizens falls within the so-called golden time range from 18:00 to 02:00.
