MOSCOW, April 6. /TASS/. Geologists from the Academician Gramberg All-Russia Scientific Research Institute for Geology and Mineral Resources of the Ocean (VNIIOkeangeologia) will prospect for several kinds of metals on the bottom of the Pacific Ocean in 2023, Minister of Natural Resources Alexander Kozlov said on his Telegram channel.
"I have discussed plans for this year with scientists from the Institute for Geology and Mineral Resources of the Ocean (VNIIOkeangeologia). In particular, prospecting for manganese, copper, zinc and nickel on the bottom of the Pacific," the Minister said.
Researchers informed about studies underway in the Arctic Ocean right now, Kozlov noted. In particular, geologists take soil samples using a geo-package mounted on the North Pole ice-resistant self-propelled platform. "Bottom deposits will help to study changes of the climate on the Earth," the Minister added.
