British American Tobacco to close transfer of Russian business in 2023

British American Tobacco first announced plans to leave the Russian market and sell its business in the country last March

LONDON, February 9. /TASS/. British American Tobacco (BAT) plans to close the transfer of its business in Russia and Belarus in 2023, the multinational tobacco company said in its financial report for 2022 released on Thursday.

"The transfer of the Russian and Belarusian businesses [is] expected to close in 2023," the report said.

British American Tobacco first announced plans to leave the Russian market and sell its business in the country last March. In July the company known for such brands as Dunhill, Lucky Strike and Rothmans, reported losses worth 957 mln pounds sterling ($1.2 bln) due to its withdrawal from the Russian market.
