Russian government to subsidize container traffic via Northern Sea Route

It is critical to continue proactive development of the route in the environment of external sanctions, Mikhail Mishustin noted

MOSCOW, March 21. /TASS/. The Russian government introduces extra support measures for companies dealing with maritime container transportation over the Northern Sea Route, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said on Monday.

It is critical to continue proactive development of the Northern Sea Route in the environment of external sanctions, Mishustin said. "The business has the demand for such routes. To increase their economic attractiveness, the government introduces extra measures of government support for container transportation," the Prime Minister said.

Domestic shipping companies that made at least two-way voyages over the year "can expect special subsidies," Mishustin added.
