Undersea fiber optic cable launched between Hainan and Hong Kong

In the future, China Mobile plans to expand the basic infrastructure of communications networks

HAIKOU, July 2. /TASS/. An undersea fiber optic cable between China's southern province of Hainan and Hong Kong has been commissioned, according to the "Hainan
Daily" newspaper.

The final configuration of the equipment and connection of the cable took place on June 29. The fiber-optic cable was laid by China Mobile to Hong Kong from Wenchang. With the launch of this fiber-optic cable, a direct link between Hainan Province and Hong Kong has been established, which will increase the efficiency of information exchange within the framework of Hainan's free trade port project.

In the future, China Mobile plans to expand the basic infrastructure of communications networks, promote 5G communications, and create a free trade port information center in order to build the most advanced network of offshore fiber optic cables in the Asia-Pacific region on Hainan, as well as provide enterprises with the necessary level of international communications, in particular within the framework of the Belt and Road initiative.
