Hainan's Haikou hosts career fair for foreign specialists

At least 40 state and private companies offered vacancies

HAIKOU, May 1. /TASS/. About 300 positions for highly qualified specialists from all over the world were offered at the job fair held on April 27 in Hainan's administrative center, the city of Haikou, www.hinews.cn reported.

The fair became part of the authorities' efforts to implement a program aimed at drawing both Chinese and foreign specialists to work on the island to cultivate a pilot free trade zone. At least 40 state and private companies offered vacancies in the province, including those operating in the high-tech field.

Earlier, the local authorities issued a statement offering about 30,000 vacancies on the island for foreign highly qualified personnel. Application was available online until April 30. The vacancies provided by the local government, as well as state and private enterprises, were offered, in particular, in areas such as modern services sector, tourism and high technology. These areas account for up to 60% of the total number of vacancies.

The offer includes over 1,700 positions with payment up to 300,000 yuan per year (about $ 42,300), as well as 59 vacancies for high positions with a salary of at least 1 million yuan ($ 142,000) per year mainly in education, healthcare and tourism. The province seeks highly skilled personnel in industrial parks, which play a huge role in promoting the pilot free trade zone.

The province's development

In April 2018, President Xi Jinping said that the Chinese authorities intend to actively involve Hainan in globalization and to draw foreign investors to the island province. By 2050, according to the authorities, the island should become a unique international cluster with an advanced economy, developed tourism, top-notch scientific, technical and financial potential, and modern medicine. The branches of the best universities and offices of the most powerful corporations in the world will be located on the Island of Hainan.

By 2025, the Chinese government intends to create an "international center for tourism and consumption" on Hainan. In order to do so, the "Eastern Hawaii" with their unique natural landscapes, thick rainforests and great climate will establish a developed network of hotels, which blend perfectly with white sandy beaches stretching along the coastline. The combination of an exotic subtropical nature and a modern eco-friendly infrastructure will boost tourist inflow to the island from the most distant parts of the world.
