Ukrainian forces hit Zaporozhye NPP with several drones, infrastructure undamaged

"We state that it is unacceptable to shell the power plant itself or its infrastructure facilities," the NPP press office said

MELITOPOL, April 5. /TASS/. The Ukrainian forces hit the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant territory with several drones, but the power plant’s critical infrastructure has not been damaged, the power plant said on its Telegram channel.

"Ukrainian combat drones have been hitting the Zaporozhye NPP area lately. In particular, today, drones hit the cargo port area and the nitrogen-oxygen station number 2 area. No damage to the power plant’s critical infrastructure and no disruption of the power plant’s system have been registered," the statement says.

"Once again, we state that it is unacceptable to shell the power plant itself or its infrastructure facilities. This may cause tragic consequences, affecting the power plant’s safe operation," the NPP press office said.

The six-reactor, six-gigawatt Zaporozhye NPP, located in the city of Energodar, is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. Russian forces took control of the facility in late February 2022. Since then, the Ukrainian army has periodically shelled both residential areas in Energodar and the premises of the power plant using drones, heavy artillery and multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).
