MOSCOW, October 25. /TASS/. The situation in the world remains tense, which includes both the special military operation area and Russia’s neighboring states, where NATO continues to build up its military potential, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said during a meeting on staffing of the Armed Forces.
"The situation in the world and around Russia remains tense. <…> This is true both for the special military operation area and the neighboring countries, where the NATO bloc constantly builds up its military potential," Medvedev said.
"For efficient protection of independence and security of our state, a complex of measures was undertaken on expansion, increase of the size of the Russian Armed Forces, on their reinforcement," he added.
"Next year, we plan to establish 1 additional army corps, 7 divisions, 19 brigades, 49 regiments and 1 flotilla," the official said.
