DUBAI, April 2. /TASS/. Israeli army strikes on the Gaza Strip have killed at least 23 Palestinians in the past 24 hours, according to Al Jazeera.
The television network reports that tens of thousands of civilians are fleeing southern Gaza as Israel continues intensive artillery and air strikes, particularly targeting Rafah and Khan Yunis.
The Gaza Health Ministry stated that the death toll in the territory has reached 1,042 since fighting resumed on March 18, 2025, with 2,542 wounded. Since October 2023, the conflict has claimed 50,399 Palestinian lives and left 114,583 injured.
On March 18, the Israeli army resumed military operations in Gaza, carrying out intensive strikes on the enclave and thereby breaking the ceasefire established in January. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office stated that the move was due to Hamas’s rejection of proposals put forward by mediators and US Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff. According to the Israeli authorities, the goal of the operation is to ensure the release of all hostages held in Gaza. Hamas, in turn, blamed Israel and the US for the resumption of military activities.
