RABAT, December 3. /TASS/. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met with International Criminal Court (ICC) Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan to inform him about latest developments in the Middle East conflict zone and urge him to prosecute "Israeli war criminals."

According to a report by Palestine’s WAFA news agency, Abbas informed Khan about "acts of genocide and ethnic cleansing being carried out these days by the Israeli occupation in Gaza, as well as the ongoing Israeli violations in the West Bank, including Jerusalem."

He called upon the ICC prosecutor to "expedite investigations and pursue legal action against Israeli war criminals responsible for war crimes committed in the Palestinian territories." These crimes, according to Abbas, "include the intentional targeting of civilians, particularly children, women, and the elderly."

More than 16,000 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the latest round of tensions with Israel broke out on October 7. The casualty figures include over 6,500 children and more than 4,500 women.
