Biden told Europe it is ‘second rate’ by detonating Nord Stream pipelines — Hersh

According to the journalist, such a position could lead to a split in NATO

NEW YORK, February 15. /TASS/. By detonating the Nord Stream pipelines, US President Joe Biden pointed European states to their dependence on the US and even to them being "second rate," but this position may lead to a rift within NATO, US reporter Seymour Hersh said in an interview for the democracynow.org website.

"What he's done is he told Europe ‘you’re second rate,’ and I think the consequences of this for the Europeans are going to be horrific. This has cut into the notion that they can depend totally on America, even in a crisis. And I think it’s going to undercut NATO, which I have always found to be supremely useless," he said.

"I think the consequences politically for us are enormous," Hersh said, adding that this is the reason why Biden and the White House sought to cover up this story.

"I think the consequences politically for us in the long run [are potentially] some countries walking out of NATO," Hersh opined, claiming that, for Biden, it is nevertheless more important to keep "a war going that he’s not going to win."

On February 8, US journalist Seymour Hersh, who specializes in investigative journalism, stated in his article, citing a source, that the Nord Stream pipelines were bombed using explosive devices planted by US Navy divers in June 2022 under the guise of the BALTOPS exercise, with support from Norwegian specialists. According to Hersh, the operation was authorized by US President Joe Biden personally, following nine months of discussions with White House security specialists.

White House National Security Council Spokeswoman Adrienne Watson said in a commentary for TASS that Hersh’s version is "utterly false and total fiction.".
