Germany defeats Russia 3:0 in football friendly

Russia’s national football team have played against Germany six times so far, but could not win any of those games

LEIPZIG /Germany/, November 16. /TASS/. Russia’s national football team lost 0:3 to Germany in a friendly match that took place in Leipzig on Thursday night.

A total of 35,388 spectators gathered to watch the game.

The goals were scored by Leroy Sane (8’), Niklas Sule (25') and Serge Gnabry (40').

The game was briefly suspended on the 89th minute as a fan ran onto the field.

Russia’s national football team have played against Germany six times so far, but could not win any of those games. In September 1994, in Moscow, the Russian squad lost a friendly match 0:1, while in June 1996 it lost 0:3 to Germany in the UEFA European Championship group stage in Manchester. Besides, another friendly match between Russia and Germany ended in a 2:2 draw in June 2005. The two teams also faced each other twice during the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification competition, and Russia lost both games (1:2 and 0:1).

After the match against Germany, members of the Russian national team will stay in Leipzig on November 16-18 to train for the UEFA Nations League group stage game against Sweden. The match will take place in Stockholm on November 20.
