MOSCOW, March 24. /TASS/. May 9, the day the Nazis were defeated in WWII, is as important a date in Israel as it is in Russia, and the country will have a presence at the Victory Parade in Moscow, Israel's acting ambassador to Moscow Alexander Ben Zvi told TASS in an interview.
"Yes, we shouldn’t forget that May 9 is an official date in Israel. We are one of the few countries, alongside the CIS nations, where May 9 is celebrated as Victory Day. We are the only non-CIS country that holds a veterans' parade and where the Immortal Regiment passes. So, for us, this is clear-cut," he replied.
Asked if Israeli representatives would be present at Moscow’s Victory Day parade, Ben Zvi replied: "as far as I know, Israel's ambassador, Simona Halperin, will attend with 100% certainty." The acting ambassador noted that "many war veterans live in Israel," and they also "take part in the parade." "Monuments to warriors and heroes stand in Netanya and Jerusalem. We remember these events very well," he assured.
