Indonesian embassy says electronic visas are not intended for tourists

MOSCOW, November 7. /TASS/. Electronic visas for traveling to Indonesia are not intended for tourists, they can be obtained only by invitation, the country’s embassy in Moscow told TASS.

"The application for [electronic] visa can only be submitted by a citizen invited by Indonesian individual, Indonesian organization or company, as well as a foreign organization or company registered in Indonesia," the embassy said.

The person seeking to obtain visa also needs to have a return ticket and health insurance, which can cover a minimum of $25,000.

As for the tourist visits, the embassy recalled that since May 30, 2022 all Russian and Belarusian citizens may travel to Indonesia as tourists and receive a visa on arrival worth 500,000 Indonesian rupiahs or $35. This also requires a return ticket and health insurance.

"A [tourist] visa on arrival is valid for 30 days and can be extended only once for 30 days, the status of this visa cannot be changed," the Indonesian embassy pointed out.
