Fire at market in southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don spreads over 3,000 square meters

The Russian Interior Ministry said police units have been sent to cordon off the marketplace

ROSTOV-ON-DON, December 1. /TASS/. The fire that erupted at a market in southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don has spread over the area of 3,000 square meters, Mayor Alexey Logvinenko said.

No casualties have been reported, the mayor said on Telegram.

The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry said previously that the fire was raging on an area of 1,500 square meters. According to the ministry, the fire originated at consumer goods stalls.

The Russian Interior Ministry said police units have been sent to cordon off the marketplace.

According to the city mayor, there’s no risk that the fire will spread over to residential housing.
