West doing everything to turn Ukraine into anti-Russia, ambassador to US says

"It is time for ordinary Ukrainians to give up their illusions and realize that the creation of an 'anti-Russia' with total dependence on the West doesn't lead to prosperity but to an inevitable downfall of the country," Anatoly Antonov added

NEW YORK, March 20. /TASS/. Western countries are doing everything to turn Ukraine into an anti-Russian state, they are not interested in the fate of ordinary Ukrainians, Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov said told Newsweek.

"It is obvious that Western politicians and 'professional human rights activists' are absolutely careless about the fate of ordinary Ukrainians caught between the millstones of armed conflict. Our opponents are doing everything possible to ensure the emergence of Ukraine as an anti-Russian State, continuing its suicidal slaughter," he said.

"It is time for ordinary Ukrainians to give up their illusions and realize that the creation of an 'anti-Russia' with total dependence on the West doesn't lead to prosperity but to an inevitable downfall of the country," Antonov added.

The Russian diplomat also pointed out that Moscow is confident that the goals of the special military operation will be achieved and "will allow to put an end to the years-long war against its own people by Kiev junta."

Earlier, Antonov said that Washington and its satellites, refusing to hear and understand Russia's key demands, are escalating the situation in Ukraine.
