US intel still resorts to old practice of fomenting subversion in Russia — Kremlin

Dmitry Peskov also said it was possible that US intelligence agencies had also been engaging in similar practices against Beijing in recent years

MOSCOW, March 15. /TASS/. US intelligence agencies, including the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), have a multi-year track record of attempting to carry out subversive activities in Russia and are, in fact, still actively engaged in this practice, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday.

"We have been subjected to such practices for many years. The United States and its relevant agencies and intelligence services have been engaged in this practice here in Russia. And, they are still attempting to carry out [such subversion] to this day," Peskov said, commenting on previous media reports regarding the CIA’s subversive activities aimed at China.

In this context, Peskov said it was possible that US intelligence agencies had also been engaging in similar practices against Beijing in recent years.

Speaking about countering the alleged destructive influence of the United States against Russia, Peskov explained that decisive measures to protect the country’s political landscape and people from attempted interference "help minimize to a great extent the work of American intelligence services."
