MOSCOW, March 14. /TASS/. Captured Ukrainian soldier Sergey Pavlyuk said in a video on Thursday that his fellow service members abandoned wounded personnel in their rushed retreat from Avdeyevka near Donetsk.
"There was constant mortar and artillery shelling. There was no sense in holding the defense. I twisted my leg upon the retreat - this occurred at night - and they [fellow service members] thought that they could not leave with me and so they abandoned me and retreated," the POW said in a video uploaded by Russia’s Defense Ministry.
The captured Ukrainian POW also gave details of the Ukrainian army’s retreat from Avdeyevka.
"They largely retreated in groups, not all together. Everyone retreated in the way he could," he added.
