MOSCOW, December 5. /TASS/. Foreign Ministers of the five Caspian states (Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan) called to intensify negotiations on development of an agreement on trust-building measures regarding military activity in the Caspian Sea, says the joint statement, published on the Russian Foreign Ministry website.
"The ministers […] noted the necessity to intensify the negotiation process in order to finalize the following five-side draft treaties: on negotiated trust-building measures in the area of military activity in the Caspian Sea," the statement reads.
The sides also emphasized the importance of further work on the draft protocol for the Tehran convention on monitoring, assessment and exchange of information on the condition of the Caspian Sea water environment.
"The sides endorse the initiative on establishment of a working group on the issue of the shallowing of the Caspian Sea and task the [high-level working group on Caspian Sea issues] to pay special attention to this topic within the currently carried out review of cooperation in the Caspian region," the document reads.
