Syria earthquake death toll rises to 371, says Health Ministry

There is no confirmed information about the deaths, casualties and destruction in the territories outside of Damascus' control in Syria

BEIRUT, February 6. /TASS/. The death toll from an earthquake in Syria has risen to 371, the country’s Health Ministry said on its Facebook (a social media site banned in Russia since it is owned by Meta corporation deemed extremist by the Russian authorities) on Monday.

According to its information, 1,089 people were affected.

Syrian media earlier reported 326 casualties.

There is no confirmed information about the deaths, casualties and destruction in the territories outside of Damascus' control in Syria. However, according to the Al-Arabiya TV channel, at least 220 people became victims of the disaster and more than 400 people were injured in the northern regions of the country.

Earlier, a 7.7-magnitude quake struck the Kahramanmaras province in the southeast of Turkey on Monday. According to the latest data, 912 people were killed in the country. Turkish seismologists say the quake could be one of the most devastating on record.
